One of the best parts of being a Houston event photographer is getting to document events that truly make an impact in the community.


Recently, I had the opportunity to photograph a golf fundraiser tournament at BlackHorse Golf Club in Cypress, Texas benefiting Summerhouse Houston, a nonprofit organization that helps adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities build career skills, pursue educational opportunities, and work toward greater independence.

Breakfast Tacos, Check-in and Morning Network


The day started early with golfers checking in over breakfast tacos and coffee as teams gathered in the clubhouse and caught up with one another before heading out to the course.


Those quieter moments before the tournament begins always make for some of the most natural photos of people laughing, networking, and enjoying the atmosphere before competition starts.

Team Portraits Across the Golf Course

Throughout the morning, I traveled across the course capturing team portraits at each hole.


One thing I enjoy about golf tournament photography is getting a chance to interact with every team individually while still documenting the overall energy of the event. From serious golfers ready to compete to groups there simply to support a great cause, every team brought its own personality to the tournament.

Sponsor Tents and Community Support


Sponsor tents lined several holes around the course, offering golfers snacks, water, giveaways, and branded merchandise throughout the day. Some sponsors included:

One of the highlights of the event was spending time photographing Summerhouse Houston members alongside staff and volunteers.


The organization’s mission was visible throughout the tournament, not just during speeches or presentations, but in the relationships and support shared among everyone involved.


Capturing candid moments between participants, volunteers, and supporters helped tell the full story of why events like this matter to Houston nonprofit organizations.


Awards Ceremony and Lunch at the Clubhouse

After the tournament wrapped up, golfers gathered back inside the clubhouse for lunch and the awards ceremony. Teams with the top scores were recognized, auction winners accepted their prizes, and supporters celebrated another successful fundraiser benefiting Summerhouse Houston’s programs and services.
